    Prublemmm, hipsteerrrrrrrssss?

  2. wuttel says:

right, question: what is wrong with comic sans, i mean i don’t get it why you guys hate it

    • JP says:

Designers hate it because they’re Apple fanboys and love their Apple Helvetica… plus it was so mainstream in GeoCities

      • Lolyoufail says:

‘Helvetica was developed in 1957 by Max Miedinger with Eduard Hoffmann at the Haas’sche Schriftgiesserei (Haas type foundry) of Münchenstein, Switzerland.’ Wut.

For the record, I hate Apple and Helvetica is a much more aethetically pleasing font than Comic Sans which looks childlike and unprofessional.

      • Will says:

Yeah Helvetica has nothing to do with Apple… it’s just a very nice, simple, typeface. It was designed to be just that. simple and clear that it could be used for a lot of uses and maintain clarity and legibility. Comic Sans is just horrible, it looks like it was written by a child. Absolutely no effort going into it’s design. No one has any idea why it took off. Anyone who calls themselves a “Helvetica purist” is a bit of a moron i’ll agree, but that doesn’t stop it being a good font.

      • Snezzle says:

Actually it is because of inappropriate use. It was designed intentionally FOR children, and it is perfect for them. It gets misused by idiots in such situations are restaurant menus, OH&S forms to name a few.

But Comic Sans is at its worst on important documents. There is nothing worse than seeing this font on a legal document. I’m a Graphic design student, and when I see this font being used inappropriately, I LOSE THE PLOT!!! So now you know :)

    • i_says says:

because comic sans is retarded. fact.

      • Fourteenlines says:

“Retarded” is not a proper adjective for this context. Try again. Also, you should better understand the difference between fact and opinion.

    • J says:

comic sans is created to mimic the handwritten text on comics. People don’t like it because if you want a handwritten text, freaking hand write it. It looks lame and fake when all the characters of a “handwritten” text look exactly the same. There are other fonts that try to do this too, comic sans is just the most commonly used offender and therefore has developed a reputation.

  3. Lawl says:

I irk my co-workers by using Comic sans in all my emails, it is my quiet rebellion against the sameness of Time New Roman.

    • Snezzle says:

It depends on your leading with the Times New Roman. If the leading is 1.5 or more, you should be fine. It took me a while to appreciate it. It also depends on margins and spacing between paragraphs. Serifs are easier to read as they lead your eye for where they need to go. (Serifs are the feet at the bottom of fonts.)
